Tibetan System Robust..?

Since 1952, Dalai Lama has started reform committee and some reforms were carried out. Then after 1959 while in exile, Tibetans had set up own organization and formation of the Central Tibetan Administration started in Dharamsala. Handful of Tibetans outside Tibet started the process of democratization and put in place elected political leadership in 2001. Since then, Tibetan Government in exile drifted into a new face of Governing System of Tibetans around the world where there is a leader with no territory, no military power, no international recognition, limited revenue and an electorate riven by political, regional and religious rivalries. This is how 368 year old Dalai Lama Institution (Gaden Phordrang) dissolved into democratic system. But critics and Communist Chinese leaders comment as “Trick” of Tibetan Government in Exile. Tibetans have experienced the best aspects of the Tibetan system of religious monarchy: it is extraordinarily effective in producing national unity and moral focus when it has a gifted, charismatic and forward-thinking leader. But none of them were been able to bring out “Tibet as an Independent Nation” on the International Table. Complete retirement of His Holiness Dalai Lama rips one of the best opportunities to Tibetan people for bringing out new era for the Tibet History. Since 1642, Gushri Khan enthrones the 5th Dalai Lama as temporal ruler of Tibet, making him the first Dalai Lama to have both temporal and spiritual rule. Tibet had been ruled or rolled by the different successions of Dalai Lama. The Great 13th Dalai Lama proclaims Tibet independent; paper money and coins issued. We made treaties and statements along with neighbors like Mongolia, China, India, and Nepal but none of them were recognized by the International Bodies Tibet as an Independent Nation. Especially in 1913, Mongolia and Tibet conclude a treaty of mutual recognition. Tibet enjoyed as a buffer zone during the major world wars which neither recognized as an Independent nor officially as a complete nation. That brings the complex arena to the modern world. Since, the Dalai Lama’s announcement of his complete retirement from the centuries long post. Tibetans across the world got special attention and took new approach towards the Tibet issue. From March to till today, 11 innocent Tibetans were self-immolated under the inhuman treatment by the PRC including monk Phunstok from Kirti Monastery. Chinese authorities have taken over Kirti Monastery and deployed, according to sources, around 50,000 security personnel in the region. Unfortunately a “dramatic increase in security expenditure” by the Chinese government in the Ngaba area of eastern Tibet has contributed to the ongoing “local discontent and unrest”. These are the major concerns that Tibetan Government in Exile should take initiatives and steps with concerned government. Unlike previous Kalon Tripa, Dr. Lobsang Sangye has got heavier and wider responsibilities on his shoulder including passing new amendments, representing Tibet to the world, dealing with one of the biggest and supper power nations, and policy makings of newly formed government.
